ABA Therapy in Mooresville and Lake Norman, delivered at home

iCare Therapy delivers in-home ABA Therapy across Mooresville, Lake Norman, Langtree, Morrison Plantation and the Brawley School Road corridor. A Registered Behavior Technician comes to your home, at a time you choose, in the rooms where your child already lives and learns, supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who wrote the plan around your child. We serve 28115 and 28117.
Until now, a Mooresville family who wanted ABA Therapy drove south, often forty minutes each way, to a clinic in Charlotte, or went without. iCare Therapy is the first provider on the competitive scoreboard to serve Mooresville and Lake Norman at all, and it does so in the family home, which for these families is not a preference. It is what makes therapy possible.

Why the location of therapy matters

Skills learned in a clinic have to be transferred home afterwards, and that transfer is where a great deal of hard won progress leaks away. A child who has learned to ask for a break at a table across town has not yet learned to ask for a break at the kitchen table when a sibling is being loud and dinner is late. Skills learned at home are already home. The kitchen table, the bedtime routine, the walk out the front door: those are the places where a plan either works or it does not, and they are the places iCare Therapy works.
There is also the practical fact of the drive. For a family already managing appointments, work, school and everything else, an extra commute to a clinic two or three times a week is often the difference between therapy that continues and therapy that quietly stops. When the therapist comes to you, the session happens at a time you choose, in a place your child already knows, and nobody has to be strapped into a car seat first.

Serving Mooresville and Lake Norman

Mooresville is a lake town with a life of its own, and it sits in Iredell County rather than Mecklenburg. That is more than a boundary. It changes which Medicaid plan manages behavioral health, it changes which county services apply, and until recently it meant that the nearest ABA Therapy provider was across the county line and down the interstate. Families in Langtree, Morrison Plantation and along Brawley School Road have been driving to Charlotte for years, and many have simply stopped.
iCare Therapy serves Mooresville and Lake Norman in the family home. The therapist comes to you, on the lake side or the town side, at a time you choose. The drive that used to be the reason therapy stalled is the thing this page removes.
Families here know Brawley School Road, the Langtree corridor and downtown Mooresville. These are reference points a resident would recognize, nothing more. iCare Therapy never names, endorses or ranks a school, a district or a program, and never tells a family which to choose.

Insurance and cost

Families here on Medicaid with behavioral health needs are managed by Vaya Partners rather than Alliance Health, because the county on your address decides the plan, and iCare Therapy works that route as well.

iCare Therapy accepts North Carolina Medicaid and most major insurers. We verify your benefits before you commit to anything, and we handle the prior authorization request ourselves rather than sending you to do it. Families in Mecklenburg County on Medicaid with behavioral health needs are usually managed by Alliance Health, and families in Iredell and Gaston counties by Vaya Partners; iCare Therapy works both, and a care coordinator can tell you which applies to your address in one call. The insurance and payment hub explains each plan in detail.

What the first two weeks look like

The first step is an assessment with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, who meets your child, talks with you at length about what you see at home and what you want to change, and writes a plan built around your child and your household rather than around a curriculum. Then sessions begin, delivered by a Registered Behavior Technician who comes to your home and supervised by the BCBA who wrote the plan. Caregiver training is built into the plan from the start, because the goal is skills that hold when the therapist has gone home.
Data is collected every session and you can see it. Progress in ABA Therapy is measured rather than felt, and a family should always be able to ask how a goal is going and get a straight answer with numbers behind it. Small wins compound: one new word, one calmer transition, one bedtime that did not become a battle. Nobody at iCare Therapy will promise you a timeline, because nobody honest can, but everybody will show you the data.

What a session in your home looks like

People picture flashcards at a table. A real in-home session looks like play, because for a young child play is the work. The Registered Behavior Technician arrives at the agreed time, and the first few minutes are about pairing, which means becoming the fun person before becoming the teaching person. Then the teaching happens inside the routines your child already has: a game on the floor, a snack at the table, a transition from one room to another. Each moment is an opportunity to practice a skill from the plan, and each practice is recorded.
The session ends with a handoff to you: what was worked on, what went well, what to try before the next visit. Over the weeks, you will be shown how to run the same strategies yourself, because a plan that only works when the therapist is in the room is not a plan. That is what caregiver training means in practice, and it is why in-home care tends to hold when clinic care sometimes does not.

How we staff Mooresville and Lake Norman

Mooresville is at the northern reach of iCare Therapy’s service area and staffing it is planned deliberately rather than assumed. Travel time is a real conversation on the first call. A care coordinator will tell you plainly how scheduling works for your address, and if there is a wait for a technician assigned to Iredell County, you will hear that honestly rather than discovering it later. Nobody promises a start date, and nobody should.

How to choose a provider, wherever you live

Whichever provider a family chooses, in this neighborhood or anywhere else, four questions separate a strong one from a weak one, and a family should ask all four. Who writes the plan and how often do they see my child. What data is collected and can I see it. What happens when a session goes badly. And how does the team communicate with me between sessions. A provider who answers all four plainly is one worth talking to. iCare Therapy will answer them on the first call, and if we are not the right fit for your family we will say so.

Frequently asked questions

Do you actually come to homes in Mooresville and Lake Norman?

Yes. In-home is how iCare Therapy delivers care rather than an option added on top of a clinic. A Registered Behavior Technician comes to your home in 28115 and 28117 at a time you choose, and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst supervises the plan.

28115 and 28117. Our full service area covers thirty two zip codes across Mecklenburg, Iredell and Gaston counties, from Statesville in the north to Indian Trail in the south, and west into Belmont. If your address is just outside the list, call anyway, because the boundary is about therapist travel time rather than a hard line on a map, and it moves as the team grows.

Yes, Mooresville and Lake Norman are inside iCare Therapy’s service area, and therapy is delivered in the family home the same way it is in Charlotte. Travel time is planned per family and discussed plainly, and if there is a wait for a technician assigned to Iredell County you will be told that on the first call rather than later.
That depends on three things: whether your child already has a diagnosis, how quickly your plan authorizes therapy, and scheduling in your area. iCare Therapy will not give you a start date on the first call, because nobody honest can, but we will tell you exactly which of those three things stands between you and the first session and what we are doing about each one.
A caregiver needs to be present in the home, and you are welcome and encouraged to watch, join in when invited, and ask the therapist what is happening and why. You do not need to hover and you do not need to disappear. Caregiver training is built into the plan, so over time you will be doing more of the work yourself, on purpose, because that is what makes the skills hold.
Children and young adults with an autism spectrum diagnosis. The approach does not change with age, but the goals do: a young child may be working on asking for help with words, while an older child or a young adult may be working on independence, routines and self advocacy. If you are unsure whether your child is a fit, a care coordinator will tell you plainly on the first call rather than after an assessment.
Yes. In-home is how iCare Therapy delivers most care, but a virtual option exists for families who prefer it, for parts of the plan such as caregiver coaching, and for the days when someone in the house is unwell and a visit is not sensible.
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst is a master’s level clinician who assesses your child, writes the plan, reads the data and adjusts the plan as your child progresses. A Registered Behavior Technician is the person who delivers the sessions in your home, following that plan and collecting the data. They work as one team, and you should always be able to see the BCBA involved rather than an RBT working alone. At iCare Therapy the BCBA who wrote your child’s plan supervises its delivery.
Yes. Session recaps, honest answers to questions, and a welcome for the questions you are unsure whether to ask are part of how iCare Therapy works. A provider who dodges questions between sessions is one to be cautious of, and we say that plainly because it is true of us as much as anyone.
