iCare Therapy brings expert, compassionate Applied Behavior Analysis therapy directly into your home. Our NC-licensed BCBAs and certified RBTs work with children and young adults across North Carolina, building real skills in the environment where life actually happens.
Clinic-Based Therapy Has Its Limits. Your Home Does Not.
Skills learned in a clinic don’t always transfer to real life.
When therapy happens in a controlled setting, children often struggle to apply what they’ve learned at the dinner table, in the backyard, or during a sibling’s birthday party. Generalization is the goal — and it starts at home.
Travel to a clinic adds stress to already full family schedules.
Getting a child with autism to a clinic appointment multiple times a week is its own challenge. In-home therapy removes the commute, the waiting room, and the transition struggles entirely.
Families are left out of the process.
When therapy happens behind closed doors at a clinic, caregivers lose the chance to learn, practice, and reinforce the same strategies every day. Family involvement is not optional — it is essential.

Frequently Asked Questions About In-Home ABA Therapy in North Carolina
What is in-home ABA therapy?
In-home ABA therapy is Applied Behavior Analysis delivered in your child’s home
environment rather than a clinic. A certified RBT works with your Care Recipient under the
direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), building skills where they
are most needed – at home, in natural routines, and in everyday settings.
Does NC Medicaid cover in-home ABA therapy?
Yes. North Carolina Medicaid Tailored Plans cover ABA therapy for eligible children and
young adults. iCare Therapy is an enrolled NC Medicaid provider. Our care coordinators
handle prior authorization and ongoing renewals on your behalf.
What ages does iCare Therapy serve?
iCare Therapy serves Care Recipients from 18 months through young adulthood. Early
intervention is most impactful, but ABA therapy delivers meaningful outcomes at any age
Do I need a formal autism diagnosis to start ABA therapy?
In most cases, a diagnosis is required for insurance coverage. However, children under 3
on NC Medicaid may be able to begin services through early intervention pathways even
before a formal diagnosis. Contact our care coordinators to discuss your specific situation
How many hours of in-home ABA does my child need per week?
Recommended hours vary based on your Care Recipient’s individualized assessment.
Programs typically range from 10 to 40 hours per week depending on age, goals, and
clinical recommendations. Your BCBA will determine the right level of support.
How do I get started with iCare Therapy?
Simply complete our intake form or call (800) 264-1985. A care coordinator will reach out
within one business day to walk you through the next steps.
Is ABA therapy covered by BCBS NC, Aetna, Cigna, or UnitedHealthcare?
Yes. iCare Therapy accepts most major commercial insurance plans including BCBS NC,
Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Tricare. Our team verifies your specific benefits
before services begin.
What is a BCBA and will one be at every session?
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a master’s-level clinician credentialed by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Your BCBA designs your Care Recipient’s program
and supervises all RBT-delivered sessions. BCBAs conduct regular oversight visits and
review data continuously.
